Multiple Teeth Replacement

Multiple teeth replacement

When a person has multiple teeth missing, the chewing and speech can be difficult and compromised if nothing is done to replace them. The old usual way is to use partial denture as a means to replace the missing teeth. Some patients may and even carry on without any replacements quite happily until one day the remaining teeth become so affected that they all need to be extracted.

When all the teeth are missing in a jaw, it will become more relevant that some form of prosthesis is required to keep on chewing and speaking properly.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are traditional options and are suitable for a lot of patients with multiple missing teeth. They are held in the mouth by some form of mechanical means onto the existing teeth. This will provide patients with certain amount of security during chewing and talking. However, if given a choice, most would like to replace dentures with Multiple Teeth Replacement dental implants.

Dental Implants vs partial dentures

The overall security, chewing comfort of the implants is far more superior than partial denture.

Dental implant treatment for replacing multiple teeth

Various steps, observations, measurements, radiographs, study models and  CT scan are needed to form a comprehensive treatment plan prior to the commencement of the multiple teeth replacement dental implants procedures. The associated fees/cost must also be discussed.

In developing a treatment plan for multiple teeth replacement dental implants, the following issues MUST be considered:

Soft tissues

  • The surrounding gum condition of the proposed implant sites.
  •  Periodontal disease, if present must be dealt with.

Hard tissues

  • The quality and quantity of bone at the proposed implant sites.
  • The proximity of the sinus and any other pathology present at the proposed implant sites.

Occlusion

To correct any faulty “bite” and restorations that may be detrimental to the final implant prosthesis.

Cost

This is obviously not possible to provide. Each case of multiple teeth replacement dental implants, with different units of implants required, together with various other issues involved, will have to be assessed and costed separately. This is usually finalized and agreed upon before any treatment is to begin.

An estimate for dental implant ranges between A$5000 to A$6000 per unit.
