In dentistry, implant(s) are used to replace the missing root(s) in the jaw so that artificial tooth/teeth or other prosthesis can be secured and reproduce the natural usefulness of the dentition. In the past, the only answer to patients with a missing tooth or teeth was either to provide the option of dental “bridge(s)” or simply to use denture(s) allowing patients to chew functionally and with an acceptable appearance. There are lots of problems associated with these treatment options, such problems that are not applicable to dental implants.
